Brian Wade Grant (born March 5, 1972 in Columbus, Ohio) is an American professional basketball player in the NBA's Boston Celtics, known for his tenacious rebounding and blue-collar defense.
Previously, he played with the Sacramento Kings, Portland Trail Blazers, Phoenix Suns, Miami Heat, and Los Angeles Lakers. He signed with the Phoenix Suns after being released by the Los Angeles Lakers, a year after being part of the trade that brought Shaquille O'Neal to the Miami Heat. He was traded in the 2006 NBA draft to the Boston Celtics with the rights to Rajon Rondo in exchange for a future first round draft pick.
Brian's cousins include San Francisco 49ers cornerback Ahmed Plummer and actor/model Steven Grant.
He is nicknamed "The General" after growing up in the same town as President Ulysses S. Grant.
